On Monday, February 24 at 7 PM, the Department of Music presents NETWORK FOR NEW MUSIC. This year’s theme – 40 at 40 – celebrates their 40th anniversary with events that reflect the diversity of identity, aesthetic, and style of newly composed music in Philadelphia, the region, and the larger creative arts communities.
This concert, one of Network's two planned composer retrospectives, will honor Richard Wernick in his 90th year. The program begins with Richard Wernick’s duo for cello and piano and continues with companion pieces by Wernick’s notable students and colleagues Ingrid Arauco, David Crumb, Philip Maneval, Yinam Leef, and Jay Reise, along with new music by TJ Cole and Eliza Brown. (A secret guest will also contribute to this set, and will be welcomed at the concert!).
This concert will be held at Haverford College in the Michael Jaharis Recital Hall, and is free and open to the public. It will also be available via live stream at this link: hav.to/ler.
