5 Reasons to Apply for a CPGC Summer Internship (even if you haven’t started)
Details
Time remains to submit an applicaiton for any of the CPGC's myriad summer internships. If you set aside the time now, you'll be grateful you did come this summer.
Everyone wants a funded internship that engages their passion, looks good on a resume, and makes the world a better place. If you haven’t found that internship yet, look no further. The CPGC has internships aplenty for anyone looking to fulfill their goals and do good in the world. Though the application deadline of February 13th is soon approaching, there is still enough time to submit an application. Below are five reasons why you should submit your application, even if you haven’t started yet.
- You want to travel (or not)
You can engage in almost any kind of social justice work through CPGC partnerships. You can think and work with Ghanaian peers on the role of education in Ghana, preserve indigenous languages in Oaxaca, or protect human rights in Guatemala. Want to stay within the United States? No worries. You can intern with the Abolitionist Law Center, the Council for American-Islamic Relations, or the BlackQuaker Project. You can even do social justice work from the comfort of your own home with a remote internship. Both in-person and remote work remain possible. Opportunities abound!
- You want to beef up your resume
Need the perfect internship to make your resume stand out from the pile? The experience gained at CPGC internships can set up a fruitful career in numerous areas, all of them oriented towards social justice. Whether you want to become a professional in the health field or craft public policy, the CPGC has opportunities geared towards your specific interests.
- You can do a lot of good
The CPGC is dedicated to advancing the interests and desires of individuals and communities who have been most impacted by injustice. There are countless ways to do this, but one reliable way to make a difference is through a summer internship. Social justice organizations of all kinds need young, creative minds to serve their missions and help those they hope to care for. Even remotely, a student intern can help support these organizations and help them achieve their goals advancing peace, justice, inclusion, or sustainability.
- You still have time
I know. There’s not a lot of time, but there’s enough time. All you need is a cover letter, resume, and the response to one essay question (Here is a video on cover letter and resume tips for this application season, and here are cover letter and resume tips and examples). The CPGC staff is here to help as well. Schedule an advising appointment with Stephanie Zukerman or Janice Lion to learn the ins and outs of the application process. No matter how late your start, we’re happy to help in whatever way we can.
- Because I haven’t started either
Yup. I’m planning on applying for a summer internship, and I haven’t started either. What can I say? Classes keep me busy enough. Add to that my extra-curricular activities and my schedule is jammed tight. Still, I’m allotting a little time each day to work on my application before the February 13th deadline. Right now, I’m on track to have my application ready to send out on time. If you start now, you’ll have enough time too.
So don’t wait! Contact the CPGC with any burning questions or curiosities, or just to chat about summer internships. More resources can be found on the CPGC’s website. We hope to see your application soon!
