Interim Report on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Antiracism Activity

A message from Wendy Raymond
Friends:
I am pleased to share with you the attached interim report on Antiracism and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) actions underway at Haverford, with particular focus on initiatives undertaken as a result of student activism over the last 14 months.
Even though the work of DEI and antiracism is never “completed,” it is important to me to disseminate a record of actions we are taking en route to a more equitable Haverford so that students, faculty, staff, and alumni can engage both with the work described and with me about the work. One of the inherent challenges in any sort of report is that it captures actions in various stages of completion and incompletion and will inevitably miss some important content. That is certainly the case here. Nonetheless, I offer this snapshot both to let you know generally where we are on various projects, and also as an indication of the openness with which I hope to engage with you in this critical work. I value your input and perspectives.
Our College Communications web team has translated the contents of this report into a dynamic web interface. The website will allow us to provide continuous updates on ongoing work as well as add new undertakings as we launch them. Much of the information gathering and coordination will be led by new Interim Chief Diversity Officer Norm Jones as he develops the role and organizational structure of his new office.
Norm and I and all of us involved in advancing this work welcome your comments or suggestions about the report and the matters it raises via this feedback form.
Sincerely,
Wendy
