Physical education has been part of the Haverford experience since the College’s earliest days, and today, the College maintains a physical education requirement for all students. Participation in one of the College’s 23 varsity teams will fulfill that requirement, but there are plenty of other choices as well, including instructional classes, intramural sports, and club teams.

COOL CLASSES: “A Musical Millennium: From Convent to Concert Hall”

Taught by Visiting Assistant Professor of Music Myron Gray, this music course examines musical change over a thousand-year span, uncovering how—and why—Western music evolved from a monastic ritual of plain, unaccompanied song into a secular entertainment for elite audiences in modern cities.
