João Hasse '28
Hi! I'm João Hasse, I'm from Curitiba, Brazil, and I'm a freshman planning to major in Political Science and History. At the CPGC, I'm a Civic Engagement associate. My work involves assisting in coordinating CPGC's events and international fellowships. At Haverford, I'm a Chesick Scholar, I'm involved in the Alliance of Latin American Students, I play volleyball and table tennis, and I work as a Access Services student worker at Lutnick Library. This is my first year working with the CPGC and I'm very excited to be part of the team!
Avery Hyde '28
Hi! My name is Avery (she/her) and I’m from NW Oregon. I’m undecided on my major but interested in the concentration of Peace, Justice, and Human Rights, with a possible major in Sociology or Poli Sci and a minor in Spanish. Outside of my work as a CPGC Civic Engagement Associate, I am part of the Sneetch Ultimate Frisbee team, Street Outreach, and Haverford Outdoors Club. I love traveling and meeting new people, being outdoors, reading, baking, making art, and hanging out with friends and family. I am so excited to be a part of the CPGC this year!

Hi! My name is Umme Orthy, I'm a junior majoring in neuroscience with a minor in health studies. I'm from Philadelphia, PA. At CPGC, I'm a Social Media & Communications Associate. On campus, I'm involved in Haverford Muslim Student Association, and the co-president of Underrepresented Minorities in STEM (URIM) club.
Abigail Pruszinski '27
Hi! I'm Abbey (she/her) and I'm from Wildwood Crest, NJ. I'm a prospective English major and Spanish and political science double minor. This summer I interned through the CPGC with Grupo de Apoyo Mutuo, a human rights NGO in Guatemala that helps victims of the internal conflict and their families. At the CPGC I am a Civic Engagement Associate. Aside from that, I work as a Research and Instruction Liaison at Lutnick Library and am a Chesick FLI Student Leader. In my free time I enjoy reading, exercising, meeting new people, and exploring Ardmore and Philly!
Jane Saltz '28
Hi! My name is Jane Saltz (she/her), and I’m originally from Bozeman, Montana, although I grew up in New York. I’m a prospective major in Education with a Concentration in Peace, Justice, and Human Rights, and I work as the Communications & Professional Writing Associate at the CPGC. Beyond this role, I am also involved in the Bi-Co Theater Program, Haverford Students for Reproductive Health, and the Jewish Student Union. I love to read and write in my free time, as well as spend time in nature.
Anika Venezia '27
Hi! My name is Anika (she/her). I am from Albany, CA and I plan to major in sociology/political science with a concentration in peace, justice, and human rights. At the CPGC, I am the student research assistant for the Global Engagement Survey and I co-lead Coffee, Current Events, & Conversation. I’m excited to work with the CPGC to prioritize values and aims of justice and equity within and outside of the Haverford community. Outside of the CPGC, I am an HCO, a peer mentor and dorm liaison for Haverford Students for Reproductive Health, and a member of a couple of other student groups. In my free time, I enjoy sewing, walking the nature trail, and, while at home, playing with my cats.
James Wayman '25
Hi! My name is James Wayman (He/Him) and I am a senior majoring in Political Science with a minor in Spanish. I am from Massillon, Ohio, and I enjoy cooking, weight lifting, and going on bike rides. On campus I am involved with the Alliance of Latin American Students, Tri-Co Law Review, and the Political Science Student Group. At the CPGC, I work as a Civic Engagement Associate where I help support various programs, events, and summer fellowships throughout the year. I have done three summer fellowships with the CPGC and this year I am participating in their PJEF program.
Carter Wood '26
Hey! I’m Carter Wood (she/her), and I was born and raised in Boston Massachusetts. I am planning on majoring in Political Science, with an Economics minor and a concentration in Peace, Justice, and Human Rights. I am a member of Haverfords' Fencing Team, and an editor of Shoegazing, the fashion, music, and literary arts publication on campus. I love to travel, and meet new people. My work for the CPGC includes event coordination and writing!
