History is essential to a free and enlightened citizenry and forms a cornerstone of the liberal arts education at Haverford College. Our varied curriculum encourages students to analyze and interpret the past from many different perspectives and to recognize their own role in writing “history.” History majors pursue creative studies of the past grounded in careful analysis of historical sources.
Wei’s thesis examines the destruction and rebirth of Los Angeles’ Chinatown and the vision and agency of second-generation Chinese American civic leaders and architects who realized it.
