The English Department allows you to explore literary and cultural traditions in manuscript; print; visual, film, oral, and digital media; and performance.
We maintain a working balance between canons of British, American and global literatures, including courses in African American literature, South Asian literature, South African literature, Irish literature, gender and sexuality studies. Courses also range across theoretical foci, such as performance theory, queer theory, postcolonial theory, trauma theory, media studies, digital humanities, and visual studies.
