Professor Ying Li Selected for National Academy Exhibition
Details
The National Academy Museum presents its annual non-member invitational exhibition, an exceptional selection of contemporary works by over 125 of the finest artists from across the country. This annual exhibition consists of works by newly emerging artists and established artists, providing an exhibition of diverse ideas, mediums, and techniques.
The annual invitational exhibition offers an opportunity for the public to preview new artistic directions in contemporary American art. Selections were made from over four-hundred recommended artists submitted for consideration and chosen by a curatorial committee comprised of a panel of seven prominent National Academicians.
Ying's painting in the show, "Maryland Dove, Homeward", a new work created during her Artist Residency at St. Mary's College, Maryland in 2007, has won the prestigious Henry Ward Ranger Fund Purchase Award from the Academy. It will be housed in a fine art museum in the United States after the show.
The Henry Ward Ranger Fund is used to purchase paintings by living American artists over the age of 45 for permanent placement in American museums. Since 1919 the fund has allocated hundreds of works to both large and small institutions, a legacy that continues to enrich American culture.
The exhibition is held at National Academy Museum, 1083 Fifth Avenue, New York, NY 10128. Phone: 212-369-4880
