Visual Studies Minor

Students can now declare a minor in visual studies, which aims to create a dynamic model for critical and creative engagement with visual experience across media, time, and cultures.  The minor is supported by the renovation of the Old Gym into the VCAM facility

Community Housing

For students looking to forge close connections around shared interests, Haverford offers special-interest housing choices, such as La Casa Hispánica (for students actively engaged in organizing programs concerned with the cultures and civilizations of the Spanish-speaking world); Cadbury House (for those seeking a quiet study, and alcohol- and drug-free space); and Nerd House (for gaming, tech, fantasy, anime, and science aficionados).

Biochemistry Concentration

Haverford’s biochemistry program is located at the interface between the biological, chemical, and physical sciences. For our ambitious students and faculty who seek to understand biological processes from physical and chemical points of view, this is an especially exciting place to be.

The 2015 "Biochemistry Superlab" course was the subject of a recent PLOS Biology paper co-authored by all of the class' 16 students and its co-teachers, Professor Rob Fairman (center) and Assistant Professor Lou Charkoudian (third from right). Students from across the sciences take the class—with preference given to biochemistry concentrators—and professors from the Departments of Biology and Chemistry team-teach it, addressing interdisciplinary interests.

Cantor Fitzgerald Art Gallery

The artists in Futureproof engage with the many malleable interpretations of futureproofing, drawing from both the legacy of military and corporate scenario planning and the use of semi-fictionalized artifacts or archives as "proof," or evidence, of alternate timelines or futures yet to come. Futureproof runs through December 17, 2017 in the Cantor Fitzgerald Gallery and is supported by the the John B. Hurford ’60 Center for the Arts and Humanities.
