Additional Course Info | Class Number: 1951 This course examines issues, challenges, and possibilities of urban education in contemporary America. We use as critical lenses issues of race, class, and culture; urban learners, teachers, and school systems; and restructuring and reform. While we look at urban education nationally over several decades, we use Philadelphia as a focal case that students investigate through documents and school placements. Weekly fieldwork in a school required. Approach: Cross-Cultural Analysis (CC), Power, Inequity, and Justice (PIJ); Haverford: B: Analysis of the Social World (B), Social Science (SO) Enrollment Cap:22. If enrollment exceeds the cap, the lottery criteria is as follows: EDUC Majors and Minors, CITY Minors, then by year (Senior then Junior then Sophomore then Freshmen) |
