Additional Course Info | Class Number: 2201 Invisible to the naked eye, microbes occupy every niche on the planet. This course will examine how microbes have become successful colonizers; review aspects of interactions between microbes, humans and the environment; and explore practical uses of microbes in industry, medicine and environmental management. The course will combine lecture, discussion of primary literature and student presentations. Three hours of lecture and three hours of laboratory per week. Prerequisites: BIOL 110 and CHEM B104. Approach: Scientific Investigation (SI), Writing Attentive; Haverford: C: Physical and Natural Processes (C), Natural Science (NA) Enrollment Limit: 22. If the course exceeds the enrollment cap the following criteria will be used for the lottery: Preference will be given to seniors and juniors who are majoring in Biology or BCMB at Bryn Mawr College. |
